Mangaluru: M P Noronha re-elected secretary of diocesan pastoral parishad

Mangaluru, Jun 22: M P Noronha has been re-elected as secretary of diocesan pastoral parishad.

Mangaluru diocese consisting of Dakshina Kannada and Kasargod districts has 117 churches with 2.30 lacs members, several schools, colleges, ashrams and medical institutes. The election for diocesan pastoral parishad for 130 leaders representing it was held on June 22 at Bishops House here and prominent advocate M P Noronha was unanimously elected as secretary of the parishad. Bishop is the president of the parishad.

Roy Castelino was elected member of working committee, Anil Lobo, John D' Silva, Hilda Alva and Elizabeth Roche have been elected as members of the working committee. Sushil Noronha and Prof John Edward D' Silva are representing the diocesan pastoral parishad in national parishad. Seven sub- committees were formed on the occasion.

Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu was elected as convener of all sub- committees. Presidents of all diocesan associations, directors, religious and social leaders are part of the parishad. MLA J R Lobo and MLC Ivan D' Souza are the honorary members.

M P Noronha in his message said that he will try to take the diocese to the highest level in religious, educational, social and financial sectors with the help of members.

Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D' Souza in his message said, “M P Noronha is taking part actively in the activities of the diocese. May more progress take place in his leadership,” he said.

Chancellor Fr Henry Sequeira, procurator Fr John Vas, public relations officer Fr William Menezes, Senet secretary Fr J B Saldanha, Fr Pius D' Souza, Fr J B Crasta, Fr Elias Fernandes, Anil Lobo, all vicars of deaneries of the diocese, directors of various organizations, nuns and elected religious and citizen representatives were present.
