Mangaluru, Jun 23: An orientation programme for the 11th batch of Bachelor of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology was held on June 19.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by the principal Prof Akhilesh PM. Thereafter Dr B Sanjeev Rai, chief of Medical Services introduced the chief guest, Prof Lokesh K M to the gathering.
After inaugurating the programme by lighting the lamp, Prof Lokesh delivered the inaugural address. In his address, he spoke about the various research activities he carried out in Coorg. He also spoke about the importance of knowledge of history on the present outcomes in the respective fields. He applauded the new entrants for choosing BASLP which is something unique and new, giving an opportunity to serve the disabled population. He appreciated everyone working in this field and also the entrants for choosing the same.
Fr Richard Coelho. director, FMCSH who delivered the presidential address, congratulated the parents for encouraging their wards in choosing the noble profession.
Dr Santosh Kumar delivered the vote of thanks.
In the second halve of the programme, a documentary about the institution was projected to the gathering so that the entrants and their parents are familiarised with the institution and its growth. Later, the freshers had to self-introduce themselves and the senior students of FMCSH gave them a floral welcome. Aswini, III year, BASLP shared her experience of studying in the college and being a part of the Muller family. Joyce, parent of a new entrant and alumni of Father Muller School of Nursing shared her experience of being a student and how the institute has helped her excel in her professional life.
Fr Richard Coelho briefed the entrants on the general rules and regulations of the institution. Dr B Sanjeev Rai, Prof Akhilesh PM and Sr Cynthia, assistant professor - Speech, orientated the parents and entrants regarding the general departmental rules. Susmitha and Dr Santosh gave an introduction about the Department of Audiology and Department of Speech Language Pathology respectively. Prof Akhilesh PM concluded the programme with the concluding remarks.
