Puttur, Jun 23: Four youth from the state who had been kidnapped in Delhi and held captive by unknown culprits, have been released.

Krishna Prasad A (26) from Neraki in Kadaba, Prashanth from Kalladka, Abhilash from Valal and one more person were the kidnapped persons.

The family of Krishna Prasad in Kadaba said that all the four were released on Friday morning and they have left Delhi later in the afternoon by train. Krishna Prasad told them over the phone that all are safe and the kidnappers released them after withdrawing money from their accounts using their debit cards.

Krishna Prasad who is a Wipro employee in Bengaluru for the past two years had phoned his family in Kadaba on June 20 to inform that he and other three friends had been kidnapped. They had gone to Delhi on June 18 to bring some equipment for gymnasium.

Krishna Prasad told them that the cash and other valuables including ATM cards had been taken away from them and the kidnapers were demanding Rs 3 lacs for their release.

The parents of Krishna Prasad had received the call from their son three times asking to deposit Rs 3 lacs into his account. They lodged a complaint at Kadaba police station and also requested minister D V Sadananda Gowda to help them to trace their son.

Police who had begun the investigations had traced the place in between Delhi and Haryana from where the phone call was made.

Now it is believed that as Krishna Prasad and his friends had requested their friends and relatives to send money to their accounts, some must have deposited and the kidnappers, who were happy with the money received, must have released the captives.

It is not known how much money was deposited into these accounts and how much money was withdrawn by kidnappers. Only after the youth reach hometowns, more details will be revealed.

The family has thanked union minister Sadananda Gowda for his help as he had informed the senior police officers in Delhi about the kidnapping and they had begun the work of tracing the youth.

While leaving Delhi, Krishna Prasad told his family that the kidnappers gave them Rs 2000 while they left. He could not give them more details as the battery in his mobile was low. Families of the youth are anxiously waiting for their arrival.
