Mangaluru: Feast of St Aloysius Gonzaga celebrated

Mangaluru, Jun 24: The feast of St Aloysius Gonzaga, the patron saint of the college was celebrated with Eucharistic Celebration on June 21 in the Loyola Hall  with the theme 'To Give and Not To Count the Cost'.

The main celebrant, Fr Melwin Pinto SJ, superior of Fatima Retreat House and former headmaster of St Aloysius High School, in his homily gave a glimpse of life of St Aloysius Gonzaga and elucidated how an individual can serve mankind in his own little way. He also said that every individual has a responsibility to contribute to the society without counting the cost of the service.

The mass was co-celebrated by the rector of St Aloysius Institutions, Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ, St Aloysius PU College principal Fr Melwin Mendonca SJ, Jesuit priests and other congregation priests; participated by over 2500 students, staff, religious and well wishers of St Aloysius Institutions.


The highlight of the celebration was the ceremonial offertory participated by over 500 students and also contributed by other faiths. The gifts would be distributed to the needy and destitute of Mangaluru.

At the end of the Mass, Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ conveyed the feast greetings and gave his message. Fr Melwin Mendonca SJ proposed the vote of thanks.
