Udupi: Blood Donation Camp by MIC on April 22

Udupi, Apr 19: Manipal Institute of Communication (MIC) in collaboration with Kasturba hospital is organizing a blood donation camp here on Tuesday April 22 in the old library hall, KMC, Manipal, stated a press release.   

The event is an initiative of the final year communication management students at MIC, organized as part of the academic exercise by Aditi Rai, Meet Sachdev, Tanaya Misra, S V Shweta, Shweta Arun, Ryan Rego and Kaushik Chakravarthy.   

The ceremony will be inaugurated at 9.30 am by Poornima Bhojraj, eminent singer and the proprietor of a popular boutique, Raj Fashions in Manipal. Dr M V Kamath, honorary director of MIC who will preside over the event. 

Dr Buroshiva Dasgupta, director of MIC, Dr Sudha Bhatt, director of blood bank, Kasturba hospital, Pushpa Kini, director, student affairs of Manipal University will be the guests on the occasion. The event has been supported by Syndicate Bank, Lions Club, Manipal, Lakme beauty salon and Udayavani.   

The press release stated further that interested donors can donate blood between 9.30 am to 4 pm. This is the first time that a blood donation camp is being organized by MIC and this will now be a regular affair to encourage people to donate blood.

The event has been initiated keeping in mind the increased need for blood by the hospital. The event also aims at creating awareness not only amongst the students but also the local people in Manipal. The blood donation campaign aims to promote good health with a view to saving human lives.

It also works towards banishing people’s fears about the act itself and encouraging them to come forward and be instrumental in helping save lives, added the release.
