Karkala: Outrageous - doctors declare living patient dead, ask family to shift body

Daijiworld Media Network - Karkala (SP)

Karkala, Jul 3: In a bizarre incident which happened at the government hospital here on Sunday July 2, doctors reportedly advised a family to take away the body of a man brought by them to the hospital for treatment, after declaring that he was no more. The family members however, said that it transpired later that the man was alive at that time.

Gopal Devadiga (47), residing at Fisheries Road here, had been admitted into the hospital three days back as he was suffering from cough, phlegm and fever. After admitting Devadiga as an in-patient, the doctors had begun to treat him. The doctors told the family later that he would be discharged as the patient was favourably responding to treatment.

After sometime however, the doctors reportedly told the family that the man had suffered from acute chest pain all of a sudden, and that in spite of their best efforts, he could not be saved. The family believed the doctors, and as advised, brought the body home and prepared for conducting his funeral. At this juncture, Devadiga suddenly opened his eyes and began to shout, it is said. He was given immediate attention and taken to a local private hospital thereafter, but he died at the hospital, the family members said.

The family members allege that the doctors at the government hospital are responsible for the death of their family member as they had falsely claimed him to have died, even when he was alive. Doctor at the hospital, Malini, said that the man had suffered from sudden chest pain and he was provided treatment at the hospital. She added that Devadiga had died of heart attack even though artificial breathing through ventilator was arranged. The doctors have expressed the opinion that sound emanating from Devadiga's body could have been caused when oxygen that had entered his body was slowly coming out, making the family members believe that he was alive.

people should learn what to support what to oppose,
If some thing happen far (UP or Gujarat) we write that its happens in our neighbour house,
But same or worst happening near to us and we lock our lips just because of Party???

if such incident happen in Gujarat also wrong, if it happens in Karnataka also wrong.

Why we forget our basic needs just because of Party?

Modi is not alone in Indian administrator to blame.

If modi is responsible for everything, why we have Gram panchayat to State govt?.

will any of Politician take their family to govt hospital? they go to USA for better treatment,

ten why such partiality? are we scared to blame state govt in this incident?

wrong is wrong, no matter person is Siddu or modi or yogi.

Recently 1 of state minister said govt hospitals in karnataka have world class facility. Is this same he is referring?

    Dear CM
You are trying to controle private hospital where as govt hospital condition is crystal clear that they declare living patient dead. in this situation who want to go to govt hospital?
and Pvt hospitals are giving better service, hence they charge more money, or are you trying to degrade pvt hospitals to same govt hospital level? by restricting them?

There is no ambulance in Govt hospital
There is no stretcher in Govt hospital
    living patient declare dead
there is no proper doctors in govt hospitals
there is no enough equipments in govt hospitals

Instead of showing your power in degrading pvt hospital, show your power in increasing quality of govt hospitals,
if every thing is available in govt hospitals no one will go to pvt hospitals.

I think the doctors are right in this case. Patient's party mistook some sound coming out from the corpse.
I would have believed that if someone says that a dead body was treated. But it is hard to believe if any doctor will discharge a human being when he is alive!!
