Bengaluru: Price of domestic LPG cylinders up four percent in state

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jul 4: After GST was implemented, price of domestic LPG cylinders has witnessed a hike of four percent in Karnataka. At the same time, there has not been any appreciable change in the price of non-domestic LPG cylinders.

In the past, states were empowered to impose tax up to five percent on domestic LPG cylinders. Different states had, as per their discretion, had imposed tax at different rates on them. In Karnataka, cylinders were charged tax of one percent. As domestic LPG cylinders are being charged five percent under the new GST, consumers have to bear the added burden of four percent differential tax, sources said.

In the past, non-domestic LPG cylinders were charged about 18 percent tax by state and central governments together. Under GST, the same rate has been retained. Therefore there will not be any additional burden on consumers, it is gathered.

However, LPG distributors said that there is confusion about this additional tax burden on domestic consumers of LPG. There has not been any clarity even after holding a couple of meetings on this issue, they said, adding that currently cylinders are being supplied at old rates.

Fellow Indians, BJP has ruined or nation, Look at our Nation. PM is always on tour, Cow Rakshak can kill and Destroy, but Girl is not protected! Cows eat SHit and plastic on the roads of our cities .Cows worshiped as God and Mothers, and the Mothers are eating Garbage. No one cares. Beef exporters are Hindus and powerful people. India Stands as No-1 Exporter in the world. Swiss money never came to India, because 82 Percent of it belongs to politicians Yogi and fekus can make any laws as they wish. They can criticize anyone but law is on their side. Poor became poorer by BJP rule. What about black money? All the drama? Look at goondaraj. This Govt is dividing people in the name of Religion! Nothing good will happen and we will be drained even our blood by this Govt. Its time to teach them. Let other Govt rule in India . Honestly Congress rule was good and today I appreciate( even they are not good)). Days are coming that if this Govt continues his rule people will be robbed, Houses will be set fire, Businesses will close, Roads will be blocked, Cows will be everywhere and Women will never walk alone( even with their own brothers).

Government charging 40% excise +Vat+Slae tax+sevice tax on liqure ,, same as tobaco 50% excise duty+other taxs, same as petrolium prodcts, like petrol, deisel ,, gass, thinner, and other inflamble items govt is charging above 50% taxes .. These products cover up governments 60% to 70% revenue ... If they brought it into GST then there will be heavy revenue loss to government and industries .. because half of the taxes they swallow by forgery and duplicate bills..

GST is not applicable for petrol, diesel. Yet Karnataka government has abolished the 5% entry tax for these products. Thus today petrol and diesel are cheapest in Karnataka among all the Southern states. At least the state govt has some concern and that's why they have reduced the burden of the people by cutting off the entry tax. Why not Centre do the same. I am wondering what would be the price of petrol and diesel if crude oil prices jump to US $120-125 as they were during UPA term!
