Karkala: Three persons accused of chain snatching arrested

Karkala, Jul 5: A criminal intelligence team led by police circle inspector, Joy Antony, succeeded in taking into custody three persons who have been accused of involvement with chain snatching incidents. The trio was arrested on Tuesday July 4.

The arrested accused happen to be Nitin Poojary (20) from Yekkar Devaragudde in Kateel village, Srinidhi alias Seenu (21) from Kondemoola Gidigere, Yekkar, and Purushotham Poojary (27), residing at Anebadi House, Rayakody, Kinnikambla lin Kandavar village.

The three reportedly are involved with several cases of chain snatching in border areas of Mangaluru and Udupi taluks, Moodbidri and Bajpe apart from the town. Gold ornaments stolen by them have been confiscated.

The policemen found the accused when investigating a case in which ornaments worn around her neck by Kallamma who had visited a shop near her home at Mundkur - Mulladka village on June 30, were snatched away. A Honda Hornet motor bike worth one lac rupees, an three chains were recovered from the accused.
