Udupi, Apr 24: None of the governments which have ruled both at the Centre and in the State have bothered about developing the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi. This effectively means that all the parties have failed in doing justice to the development of these districts, said Jayashreekrishna Parisara Premi Samiti president Vishwanath Mada.

He was addressing the media persons here on Wednesday April 23. Speaking about setting up of industries in the coastal belt he said that any industry that does not harm the farmers and does not involve in forceful acquisition of land should be allowed in the region.  "Barren land must be utilized for setting up developmental projects instead of acquiring agricultural land," he added.

He further said that industrialization in coastal region is need in order to provide job opportunities for the locals, especially educated youth, who otherwise move to other places in search of livelihood. "Any industry that sets foot in this region should make it a point to provide at least 50% job to the locals," he opined.

Senior members of the Samiti Rons Bantwal and Dharmapal Devadiga were also present at the press conference.

Yes, I partially agree with you. Our Coastal politicans were not fully concentrated the development of the region to create job opportunities to the local people. What we will get by keeping the land without doing any cultivation. Nowdays the cost of cultivation is more than the revenue. Industrialisation is a must to get more jobs. Yet the same time, harmful industries are to be ristricted. We have to try to get more jobs to the local people so the the Coastal youths need not to migrate to other places in search of thier livlihood and permanetly settle there.
