Karkala, Jul 8: In connection with the claim of a family that its member, Gopal Devadiga (48), who had been declared dead by the doctors at the government hospital, had briefly come to life after arrangements for his funeral were made, district health officer (DHO), Dr Rohini, said that there was no lapse on the part of the doctor at the government hospital.

Gopal Devadiga (48) had been admitted into the government hospital here on June 29, as he was suffering from nagging cough and fever. On July 2, he suffered from chest pain and breathlessness. On duty doctor, Dr Malini Bangera, had provided him emergency treatment. Without responding, Devadiga had breathed his last at 3 pm the same day.

Dr Rohini said that immediately after the patient complained of chest pain, ECG testing was conducted, and the doctor did not find heartbeat. The body was released to family members at 3.15 pm, as found during the investigation conducted by senior officials in the department. In a release, she clarified that the doctor was not guilty of dereliction of duty in this case and that in making death declaration too the doctor had not committed any mistake.

The family members had said that after Gopal Devadiga was declared dead, they had taken the body home, and when they were preparing for the funeral, Devadiga had suddenly opened his eyes and started to shout. They had said that he was immediately taken to a private hospital but he could not be saved. They had held doctors at the government hospital responsible for their relative's death as they falsely claimed him to have died and stopped treatment.

The doctors are trying to save each others skin - simple.

There are occasions, when a person clinically dead, coming out alive. But, largely in India specially in Govt., hospitals it happens because of carelessness. The slang that comes with the word Govt not because of dignity, it comes because of the carelessness of entire staff of Govt., hospitals around the country.

When it comes to private hospitals, some so called CHARITABLE HOSPITALS too can try to keep alive a dead person, trying to make some more money. Because, these days medical is a true money minting business.

Point is if you love someone, before conducting last rights, give some time and certainly not before the body is still warm.

Intersting.Looks like as they found no heartbeats heard, had nothing else to do as to ask the family to take their patient home. How sad ,nobody tried to give some oxygen or give patient to administer some medicine.or give heartmassage. How pathetic our hospitals have become ,only pvt.patients are given more care?or VIPs?Patients are only a number? He would have certainly survived if any of these measurements taken. Now too late.heartfelt smypathy to the family.May his soul rest in peace.
