'No GST official authorised to visit traders without permission'

New Delhi, July 8 (IANS): In view of reports that some people posing as GST officials were demanding money from traders, the government on Saturday said that no officer of the department is authorised to visit the shopkeepers without authorisation.

"It has been reported in a certain section of media that some unscrupulous elements posing as GST officers have tried to fleece the shopkeepers and customers in the name of GST. No officer of the department is authorised to visit the premises of the traders and shopkeepers without authorisation," the Office of the Chief Commissioner of GST (Delhi Zone) said here in a statement.

In case of any difficulty traders can register a complaint at 011-23370115, Central Revenue Building, I. P. Estate, New Delhi, it said.

"The department only wants to facilitate the shopkeepers and traders during the transition period," it added.
