Kundapur: Tipper-bike accident at Moodubage - rider killed

Kundapur, Jul 8: A tipper truck and a motor bike were involved with an accident on Friday July 7 evening. The accident happened near the school at Moodubage, Ampar in the taluk, in which the motor bike rider was killed. The victim was Shivakumar Rao (28), a resident of Palu in Hallihole Shadaberu Sara. Pillion rider, Ravi (35), survived with serious injuries.

Reports said that Shivakumar and Ravi were going towards Hallihole from the town in a motor bike when a tipper which approached their vehicle from the direction of Bailur hit the two-wheeler hard. Shivakumar was thrown to the road due to the impact of the collision. On account of serious injuries he suffered to his vital organs, Shivakumar lost his life on the spot. Ravi, who was critically injured, is being treated in a hospital.

Shivakumar, who was unmarried, was a farmer by profession. Ravi, who happens to be a native of Kokkada, Halkudige in Thirthahalli taluk in Shivamogga district, is a relative of Shivakumar's mother. Ravi is married and has a son and a daughter. Both had come to the town to buy some agricultural equipment and were returning when the tragic accident happened.

Shivakuar's father, Manjunath Rao from Palu in Sara, Shadaberu in the taluk, had lost a daughter eight years back to jaundice, it has transpired. The family has plunged into abysmal depths of grief on account of another blow delivered to them by cruel fate.

The tipper has been confiscated. A case about the accident stands registered in Shankarnarayana police station. Investigation has been undertaken.
