Kundapur, Jul 11: Ganesh Prasad (33), son of Ramanna Setty living at Kalanaykara Adi in Krodhabail within Hengavalli gram panchayat limits slipped accidentally on Monday July 10 morning and drowned in pond.

Planting of seedlings had been planned in the agricultural field belonging to the family on Monday. As there was no rain, and mud needs to be soaked in water before seedlings could be planted, Prasad went to switch on the pump to irrigate the field. During this process, he slipped and  directly fell into the pond.

Family members were not aware what had happened. After waiting for sometime, they went to looking for the youth and found that Prasad had drowned in pond.

The victim was unmarried and was a hard-working agriculturist. Shankarnarayana police sub-inspector of police, Sunil Kumar and others visited the spot and conducted inquest. After conducting postmortem at Belve primary health cenre, the body was handed over to family members.
