Mangaluru, Jul 12: A construction company received not only their full claim amount of insurance, but also some extra amount of interest, after Dakshina Kannada District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum passed an order against ICICI Lombard Motor Insurance Co Ltd.

Sheela Constructions, Mangaluru, had purchased a Tata Ace tempo and availed an insurance policy from ICICI Lombard Motor Insurance Co Ltd to cover the said vehicle. The vehicle met with an accident on February 13, 2014. For the repair of the same, Aravind Motors Pvt Ltd raised a bill of Rs 21,009, which was sent to the insurance company for claim. But, the company refused to release the claim citing various reasons.

Dissatisfied customer, Sheela Constructions approached Dakshina Kannada District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, Mangaluru for justice. The honourable forum in its judgement dated December 31, 2016, directed the insurance company to pay Rs 21,009 and 6% interest till the date of payment.
