Karkala: Mijar Annappa to be Honoured during Gramotsava

Udupi, Apr 26: Mijar Annappa, a highly-acclaimed and top ranked Yakshagana artiste has been nominated for this year's 'Gramostava Award'. Kurpady Yuva Vrinda (KYV), an organization of village people of Ajekar will be presenting this award. This year KYV is celebrating ninth 'Gramostava'.
 
 
The objective behind gramostava celebrations is to promote a sense of brotherhood in villages. This year the 'Youth Award' is to be presented to Nayan Kumar Jogi, a national-level weightlifter, Nakuladas Pai, a young enterprenuer, Suresh, a bus conductor of Sunil Motors which plies between Hebri and Mangalore city. 

Others include Arphitha Ajekar and Akshatha Hermunde, who had participated in the 'Dasara Sports Meet'. They played till the regional-level of the game. Rajapurara Saraswatha Yuva Sangahatana has been selected for 'Organizational Award' of gramostava.
 
Fr Valerian Feranandes, parish priest of Ajeakar church will inaugurate the festival. K S Imthiyaz Ahmad, the president of Muslim Jamath will be presiding over the function. Dinesh Pai, the organizing president of Karkala taluk literary Meet, Muniyal 2008, ALex D'souza, Bhavanishankar Jogeri among others will be the guests on the occasion.
