Bengaluru: Fake stamp paper scam - minister Baig's brother gets HC clean chit

Bengaluru, Jul 13: The high court has exonerated Dr Rehana Baig, brother of minister, Roshan Baig, who was facing the charge of helping Abdul Karim Telgi, accused in multi-crore fake stamp paper scam in the state, to procure stamp paper sales licence for the first time.

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had appealed in the high court against the order of the lower court that had acquitted Baig of the charges. The lower court had found that 60 witnesses who had been identified to depose against Rehan Baig had turned hostile. At the same it had found that there are no evidences to prove that Rehan Baig had reaped financial benefit out of this move.

The high court has upheld these observations of the lower court. Accordingly, judges of the division bench, Ravi Malimath, and John Michel D Cunha dismissed the appeal preferred by CBI.
