Muscat: Pangalites Rejoice at Family Day Out

Muscat, Apr 28: Muscat Pangalites living in Oman organized a family day out for families and   friends on Friday, April 25 at 10.30 am in an agricultural farm near Naseem Garden.

The day’s activities began with a prayer rendered by Victoria D’Costa invoking God’s blessings on the day’s events followed by a welcome speech by president Jerry Rodrigues, a senior member of Muscat Pangalites, who has served Oman Air for more than 31 years in a senior position. He welcomed all Pangalites and guests to enjoy the fun-filled day. In his speech he also lauded the support of the committee members and asked for their continued participation in the future events to be conducted during the course of the year.

This being the 12th year of Muscat Pagalities in Oman, the lamp symbolizing love and peace was lit by Alice Rodrigues, wife of the Pangalites president and by Flora Martis, a well-known figure who has served in the parish council and finance committee of Pangala parish, followed by the president, by Victoria D’Costa who came from Mysore and Lucy D’Souza.

Adults and children who came from Mangalore on their school holidays enjoyed the event to the fullest in the swimming pool and outdoor games which was successfully conducted by Sunitha Nazareth and Lucy D’Souza. The housie-housie game was organized by well-known personality Alan D’Costa. It was a great privilege to witness the guest priest Fr Raymond Rego from Lucknow diocese, who has served more than 51 years as a servant of God. As a gesture of love a memento was presented by Henry G Martis and Jerry Rodrigues.

Teams were made for throwball event. The whole gathering enjoyed the games to the hilt with several on the spot games conducted in between the group games. The ladies also enjoyed perfect attention and applause participating in breaking the pot event blindfolded, which left the audience energized, as they continued applauding the highlight of the day.

A sumptuous lunch was served by the well-known family caterers Gracy and Henry Castelino. In between, melodious songs were playing adding more enjoyment and enthralling the gathering. The entire programme was filled with fun and frolic events.

Committee member Vinay Nazareth proposed the vote of thanks. He thanked all the sponsors for supporting the event, in particular Oman Air and all the committee members for their dedication and support in organizing the event and special thanks and appreciation to parish priest Fr Herald D’Souza of Pangala church for his unstinted support.

The entire event was well-compered by Henry G Martis, who captured the attention of participants with his talent and enthusiasm.
