Settlers in Goa must respect culture: Vijai

Margao, Jul 24 (TOI): Town and country planning (TCP) minister Vijai Sardesai on Sunday assured to pursue the long-pending demands of Goan Haj pilgrims on a priority basis.

Sardesai made this promise while distributing their passport and visas at a special function held at Fatorda on Sunday evening. The TCP minister emphasised that the Goa BJP-led coalition government would fulfill its commitment while undertaking development and providing assistance to all religious communities without any bias.

Decrying the attempts to forment communal disharmony in Goa, Sardessai underscored the fact that 'Goans are a tolerant community with no communal incidents occurring in the state unlike elsewhere in the nation.'

He further urged those settling in Goa to respect the local culture.
