Dubai, May 5: A humorous programme was organized by the Kannada Koota UAE, a prominent group working for the unity of Kannadigas in the UAE on Friday May 2 at Richmond Hotel, Bur Dubai.

There were three guest artists from Karnataka who performed during the event. Pranesh of The Gangavathi BeeChi fame, R T Arun Kumar, a well-known artist from Davanagere and budding TV artiste Kasturi Mulimani were present to exhibit their talents.

The programme was coordinated by Aruna Mutugadur, president of Kannada Koota and Iranna Moolimani, a noted Kannada poet in the UAE.  The programme 'Haasya Ranjana' carried on for about three hours and entertained the crowd of more than three hundred Kannadigas.

The programme commenced with traditional devotional song by sChaitra Mallikarjun. Aruna Mutugadur welcomed the crowd. Bhagyasadan Das and Mallikarjun were the comperes of the programme.

Sarvotham Shetty, president of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha, Prabhakar Ambalthere, president of Sharjah Karnataka Sangha were some of the many dignities present on the occasion.

Traditional Naadageethe - Belaguta Bannire- was sung by the Kannada Koota members, a break dance for the kannada tune by Shravan and Rajat, a solo dance by Aishwarya Gajare for a Kannada song entertained the public.

R T Arun Kumar's talent of reproducing the natural sounds with mouth took verybody by surprise.  The natural sounds such as vehicles of 70's, the police jeep, Bajaj scooter, steam train, Yezdi bike involved in making yesteryear's Kannada song 'Na Ninna Mareyalare’ starring Dr Rajkumar and Laxmi came alive and amazed everybody. The height of the talent was displaced with Arun presented his best by reproducing the commencing sound track of English Movie "McEnna's Gold", a superhit movie of the 70's. The sound was so natural that it took the audience to the virtual movie theatre till the end.

Kastruri Mulimani, a budding artist in the Kannada TV industry, compered the stage in her own way. Her wit of presenting the simple jokes in the typical north Karnataka style took everybody to the world of total laughter.

The crowd waited for this particular man, Pranesh. Inspired by the noted Kannada humourist BeeChi, he presented many of the Kannada topics in his own style. He enticed the crowd with his own style of presenting the humour. He explained how two typical Kannada words could give an entire different meaning if they are altered.  The crowd enjoyed beyond their limits as long as Pranesh kept on continuing the humorous presentation. Words can never beat his method of presenting the topic.

Later he conveyed the message of BeeChi, that a humourist should keep away himself from laughing and make others laugh, just like the snuff powder box does not sneeze in spite of having it in all the time. He said that humour should be on the lighter side and should not harm anyone's feeling.

A special presentation of Mulimani's songs with tabla as background music by R T Arun Kumar, not with the real tabla, but merely by his lips thrilled the audience. The three-hour programme was a total success, thanks to the organizers of Kannada Koota UAE.

Aruna Mutugadur proposed vote of thanks.
