Mangaluru, Aug 2: Hours after slueths of the income tax (I-T) department swooped down on Congress minister D K Shivakumar and the Eagleton resort in Bengaluru where 44 Congress MLAs from Gujarat have been staying, senior Congress leader Janardhan Poojary hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the centre, and accused the PM of behaving like 'Hitler'.

Addressing a press meet here on Wednesday August 2, Poojary said, "Modi is behaving like Hitler all over India. He thinks he can never be questioned. He is misusing the government machinery, expecially the I-T department for his political gain. The raid on D K Shivakumar's residence is an indication of his autocratic rule.

"Is D K Shivakumar a terrorist? Why has the I-T department used the CRPF to conduct the raid? It is a matter of shame to the CRPF. Modi wants Ahmed Patel's defeat in Gujarat, so he is doing this I-T raid drama," he alleged, adding that Ahmed Patel will win the Rajya Sabha polls without any doubt.

"The entire nation knows BJP is famous for horse-trading, and that is why Congress MLAs of Gujarat are staying in Bengaluru. D K Shivakumar is from Karnataka, so, to misguide the people, Modi is conducting raids.

"I too handled the I-T department during my time, but our government never misused it. We never conducted fake raids with political motives. Modi is playing cheap politics against his opponents. It is unacceptable. He should know India is a democratic country. There are some procedures and rules to follow when conducting I-T raids. Today he ordered raid on D K Shivakumar's house, tomorrow it may be on any comman citizen," Poojary said.

"Modi should stop this immediately. Do not play with the comman man's sentiments. People will put an end to Modi's Hitler-like behaviour in the coming days," he added.

Asked about the death of Kavya, a student of Alva's high school and subsequent protests, he said, "People have already revolted against the institution. V S Ugrappa who is my disciple showed how a public person should conduct himself yesterday (August 1) when he met Kavya's parents and assured them justice. I support anyone who fights for justice for Kavya."

On the allegation that district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai had abused him at a wedding, he said, "The issue is settled. Rai came to me and apologised with tears in his eyes."

    Even if it is a raid to scare the Congi MLAs of Gujarat or to scare DK why should Congress crib ? After all this lesson BJP would have learnt from Congress only who were in power for 60 years and looted the country ! Did they not hound Modi on the 2002 issue and fake encounters ? which were finally thrown out by the SC . Did they not put Amit shah , and several Police officers on fake encounter issues which was fake complaint and accusation in the first place? Did they not use police/ CBI and home ministry to change a terrorist to martyr ? Yes I am referring to isharat Jehan whose file noting were changed by the Home minister to paint her as martyr and an innocent when David Coleman says with conviction that she is a terrorist ! The list is endless and congress has a history of frauds and bluffs ! if these guys are innocent and earned their wealth in the right way let them prove it in court ! The truth is Congis are afraid that these charges are correct and would stick !

    Mr. Mohit Mangalore. You are correct in saying that the raids are carried out by the I.T. guys but who is directing them? One does not need rocket science to answer this question. You know it very well just as I know it. Please refrain from siding with the wrong doers. I welcome the raids on the Karnataka minister because he is said to be extremely corrupt. But why single out D K Shivkumar for the raids? Why no raids on Yeddyurappa, Shobha, C T Ravi, Janradhana Reddy and the long list of rogues from the BJP party? Why one set of rules for the BJP and another for the Congress? Let any minister be from any party. Raid him, Don't see whether he is your supporter or from the opposition. He is defrauding the country. He is the actual desh drohi.

    I have great regard for Mr. Poojary because all along I have been of the view that he calls a spade a spade. I agree that the PM is targeting D K Shivkumar for political gains but why have sympathy for a person who, according to reports, is regarded one of the most corrupt among the Karnataka ministers? This man is to the Congress what Yeddyurppa and Janradhan Reddy are to the BJP. Mr. Poojary, you are supporting the wrong person on this occasion. You know it much better than me. Why this volte-face Mr. Poojary?

    Dear Mr Poojary sir I have utmost repsect for you as a leader. But anyone who commits economic offence by evading tax is detrimental to society and development. There must be targetted and punished. In my opinion there must be a raid on all politicians and their income must be calculated and assesed. I am neither a BJP supporter nor a Congress fan, I am thinking as an ordinary neutral citizen of India. I dont vote for parties but I vote by looking at the candidates calibre and efficiancy,

    Had Poojary been really good in delivering ,for which he was elected,would not have faced defeat in election later 5 times. DK people love who work sincerely.without prejudice,partiality,hatred towards any community. Late enlightenment not useful...There are good things about Poojary...but question is why he was rejected by Mangaloreans. He should not support corruption irrespective of party lines.Sitting in Mangalore anybody can give statement about Modiji....If aggrived let them meet Modiji personally to air their grievence.
