Ras Al Khaima, May 16: RAK Medical and Health Sciences University in Ras Al Khaimah celebrated RAK Community Health Care Day. On 12th May, 2008, from 9.00 am to 8.00 pm at RAK Medical and Health Sciences University campus, Burairat, Ras Al Khaimah. Mr. Mubarak Ali Al Shamsi , director General RAK municipality, member and Gen secretary , UAE Municipality Council inaugurated the programme.
The Vice Chancellor Dr. Guru Madhva Rao spoke on the importance of letting the lay person focused on the role of health professionals translating the vast amount of knowledge available on health care into strategies and programs which people can follow for a healthy life.
“RAK MHSU Community Health Care Day” was one way to learn more about staying healthy and preventing diseases.

Keeping the World Health Day and International Nurses Day in view, had the theme “Delivering quality Primary Health Care and Serving the community of RAK”.
Students from various medical and health sciences universities around U.A.E participates in animated debate and Quiz on health issues.
Through various exhibits the programme emphasizes on the awareness of healthy living, nutrition, gum disease, bad breath, tobacco and oral health, brushing techniques, tooth decay, diabetes, osteoporosis, stem cell, gene therapy, allergic asthma, obesity & body fat analysis, preventive aspects of exercise , telemedicine, computers in health care, balanced diet, BMI and prevention of diseases and advances in health care system.
There were skits put up by the students, to send a health message to the public. It reflected the Doctor – Patient relationship in different situations. It focused on educating students and the public on proper health care delivery.
After the whole day’s activities Dr. Mohd Amin Al Otaibi, Director of Primary Health Care concluded the day by distributing prizes to the winners of various competitions.
