Hand over Dawood to India: Advani urges Pak

Hyderabad, May 17: There are ‘formidable cases’ for Pakistan to extradite underworld don Dawood Ibrahim to India for trial, senior BJP leader L K Advani said on Saturday.

Welcoming Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani's recent statement on extradition of Dawood, Advani said that it was first time that Islamabad had officially admitted that the notorious gangster was taking shelter in their country.

"The Interpol has declared Dawood Ibrahim as absconder and US declared him as an international terrorist. The Indian courts have also declared him as absconder. These are formidable cases for Pakistan government to carry out its promise and hand him over to India for trial," Advani said.

Accusing the UPA Government of failing to check terrorism, he said none of the perpetrators of terror strikes during the last four years had been brought to book and not a single case had been fully investigated.

"The UPA government's weak approach to fighting terrorism is guided solely by vote-bank considerations. For its short-term electoral gains, the Congress is making India pay a very heavy price in the form of blood of innocent citizens," he said.

“Mirror, Mirror on the wall…..who is the fairest of them all”… Mr.Advani appears to be blessed with two “faces” and the question will be which is the fairer of the two faces. If to quote him “Accusing the UPA Government of failing to check terrorism, none of the perpetrators of terror strikes during the last four years had been brought to book and not a single case had been fully investigated.”….can he explain side by side which government was in power when the the most feared Jaish Mohammed chief was released as a deal when the Indian Airlines flight was hijacked to Afghanistan airport during the Taleban government…? And which government was in power when the Gujarat tragedy took place (about which even his colleague Mr.Vajpayee himself expressed sorrow)...and when he himself visited Pakistan a few years back and praised the late Jinnah as a secular person, why he never raised the topic of Dawood while he was there…? And during the umpteen number of times he met Musharaff, when he was the honourable Home Minister (or Mini Star) of India why he himself never insisted that Dawood be handed over to India…???

Today terrorism is an International phenomenon and even the USA with all its mighty prowess hasn’t succeeded in wiping it off and international terrorists are still at large, brazenly releasing audio-visual tapes full of threats to world peace. Charity begins at home. If Advaniji can start curtailing the provocative violent activities of the various saffron brigades who are harassing innocent members of the minorities in various parts of the country, then perhaps even Interpol may chose him to head their fight against international terrorism and he might even qualify for the Nobel Peace Price if not there is nothing noble about his accusing the noble Sardarji led UPA government as being soft on the subject....
