Former panchayat member's body found in J&K

Srinagar, Aug 21 (IANS): The dead body of a former panchayat member was found in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district, police said.

Shabir Ahmad Wani's body was found some distance from his home in the Shangus area. He was affiliated to the ruling PDP.

A police officer said there was a visible wound on the head made with a sharp weapon. However, he said it was premature to say whether militants were responsible for the crime.
