Udupi, May 19: Sri Sugunendrateertha Swamiji of Paryaya Puttige Math inaugurated ninth annual ‘Taalamaddale’ week, on Monday May 19, at Sri Krishna Rajangan here, which was jointly organized by Paryaya Puttige Sri Krishna Math, Yakshagana Kalaranga, in memory of Dr TMA Pai.
Swamiji while gracing the occasion, said “yakshagana has been losing it’s true form since it was socially adopted depending on the need of various events. Moreover, it has still survived the onslaught of modernism. Taalamaddale educates the viewers the richness of ancient scriptures. Further, it has the richness to enthrall the viewers on religious fervour with all its might.”
Hari Asranna, lineage priest of Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple, Kateel, Karnataka Bank retired chairman U V Bhat, Udupi Lions Mid-Town president V G Bhjat, Yakshagana Kalaranga vice president Ganesh Rao, Gangadhar M Rao, secretary Muralidhar Kadekar were present at the dais.
