SC judgement on triple talaq progressive: Manish Tewari

New Delhi, Aug 22 (IANS): Congress leader Manish Tewari on Tuesday welcomed the Supreme Court judgement striking down triple talaq, calling it a "progressive and constructive" decision.

"Welcome 3.2 verdict of SC striking down Triple Talaq. It is a constructive, progressive decision that must be welcomed by all right thinkers," Tewari, a lawyer himself, said in a tweet.

The former union Minister's remarks came after the apex court held triple talaq as "unconstitutional", "arbitrary" and "not part of Islam".
