Beltangady: Senior citizen slips, drowns in pond

Beltangady, Aug 26: Udayakar Hebbar (62), resident of Siribail in Kadirudyavara village in the taluk slipped and drowned in the pond located in his farm on Wednesday August 24 morning.

Hebbar was pumping water from the pond to his plantation when he saw that water was not getting ejected through the pipe. He went to the pond to check what was happening. In an attempt to find out the problem, he was trying to lift the foot valve of the pump set out when he slipped and lost his life.

The family members who were waiting for Hebbar to return from the farm, began to search for him as he failed to make an appearance. During the search operation they found out that Hebbar had drowned. The local police registered a case of unnatural death on the basis of complaint filed by son of the deceased, Chandan.
