Panaji, Aug 25: The finale of 17th Shenai Goybab Story telling competition organised by Konkani Bhasha Mandal saw Vidhi Bhandare of Little Penguins School, Baiguinim, Harsh Samant of Dr K B Hegdewar High School, Ponda and Shefali Naik of Government High School, Savoi Verem bagging the first place in first to fourth, fifth to seventh and eighth to tenth categories respectively.

Over 5500 students participated in the centre-level competition held in 17 centres across Goa. Students then competed in the district-level competition before making it to the top 16 for the finals.

Ratnamala Divkar, Saiesh Panandikar, Sohan Sanvordekar, Nityanand Naik, Teffany Gama, Tanvi Kamat Bambolkar, Paresh Naik, Jayesh Raut and Shrivallabh Dubhashi were the judges for the finals.

Writer and retired headmaster Sanjay Talwadkar and writer and programme officer of Bal Bhavan, Shashikant Punaji were the guests for the prize distribution ceremony.

"The very fact that the children have stood confidently in front of an audience to tell a story makes them victorious," said Talwadkar.
 
Chetan Acharya, president of Konkani Bhasha Mandal, Anwesha Singbal, coordinator for the competition and Mrinal Lolienkar, co-cordinator were present on the occasion.
