Noida, May 23: Eight days after the dreaded Noida double murder, the Noida police has today (May 22) revealed that it could have been a case of 'honour killing'.

Revealing the details of the Noida double murder the Noida SSP said, "Honour killing could have been the motive."

He also said that the injuries on Arushi and Hemraj were similar, indicating that Hemraj's murder 'could have been incidental'.

"The Viscera report is being conducted in Agra, the result of which will be out in 15 days", Noida SSP told reporters.

Arushi and her father Rakesh Talwar

Last night, top police officials from Meerut and Noida including Meerut IG Gurudarshan Singh were at the residence of the Talwars questioning the parents in the case.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday (May 20) Arushi's father Rakesh Talwar who is also one of the suspects in the case broke his silence for the first time and claimed he was not involved in the murder.

Arushi Talwar, a 15-year old student of Delhi Public school, Noida, daughter of a dentist couple Dr Rajesh Talwar and Dr Nupur Talwar, was found murdered in her bedroom on the morning of May 16 with her throat slit and with injuries on her head and forehead. The senseless act was discovered around 6.30 am by the parents when they lifted the sheet.

Police believe the injuries may have been inflicted by "a heavy sharp-edged instrument. The very next day, the prime suspect, who was later ruled out, the domestic help Hemraj was also found dead.

Uttar Pradesh DGP Vikram Singh admitted to bungling on part of Noida Police missing this crucial evidence following which the Special Task Force has been inducted into the investigations.

The Special Task Force, on Tuesday, scoured the garage, which was used as a clinic till about two years ago, but could not find any clue which could help in solving the case.

Police were questioning a number of people, including former servants and the parents of the murdered girl Arushi Talwar. They had detained one Vishnu, a former servant of the Talwars, whom they suspected could be behind the murder.
