Mangaluru, Aug 31: The state government has declared Friday September 1 as holiday in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on account of Bakrid.

It is gathered that Muslims living in these two districts will be celebrating Bakrid on Friday. Accordingly, deputy commissioners of these two districts had approached the state government with a request to modify the holiday. Karnataka Wakf Board had also supported this request as moon will be sighted a day earlier in these two districts.
