Mangaluru: Passenger in possession of excess foreign currency notes held

Mangaluru, Sep 1: A person found to be carrying foreign currency notes worth Rs 20 lac through the international airport was taken into custody by directorate of revenue intelligence on the night of Wednesday August 30.

The arrested man has been identified as Abdul Basheer (42), resident of Talangere Pallikunnu, Kerala. He had arrived at the airport here to fly to Dubai by a flight leaving the city on Thursday morning.

During the checking of his luggage, officials at the airport found out that he was in possession of foreign currency notes in excess of permitted quantities. Thereafter he was arrested and produced in court later.
