Abu Dhabi: St Joseph’s Konkani Community holds nine day novena for nativity

Abu Dhabi, Sep 3: St Joseph’s Konkani Community, here, on August 30, started the nine day-novena in preparation for the nativity feast.

This is the first time the novena is being conducted since the formation of the SJKC Committee in November 2016.

The SJKC Committee invited Fr Clifford Fernandes, professor, St Joseph’s Seminary, Mangaluru to celebrate Mass at 7.30 pm every day of the novena. Teaching, and showering of flowers to Mother Mary at the grotto by the children, follow. The joyful children receive sweets each day after flower strewing.


    


































The community members remained eager to be present for the mass, teaching and novena as Fr Clifford, in his message, stressed the need to be good Christians through the word of God, encouraging the community to do good in their day to day walk of life.

The SJKC committee members, under the guidance of spiritual director Fr Rodson Goes and coordinator Leo Rodrigues meticulously chalked out all arrangements for the year’s nativity feast celebrations.

The novena that commenced on August 30 will continue for 9 days until September 7. Nativity feast will be celebrated at St Joseph’s Cathedral on Friday, September 8 at 6.45 pm by showering flowers to Mother Mary, followed by festal high mass and Noven Jevann by the community.

During the occasion, the Konkani community students who scored more than 75% marks in X and XII Standard during April 2017 exams will be felicitated. A colorful entertainment programme is organised.
