Moodbidri, Sep 6: A 15-year-old boy reportedly tried to rape a five-year-old girl at Daegudde here. The incident had happened on Saturday.
The accused minor boy was taken into custody by the police on Tuesday September 5 and produced in Juvenile Justice court at Udupi. He has since been sent to remand home.
The victim and the boy, who happens to be a tenth standard student, are relatives and stay in the same house. It is said that
on Saturday, the boy took away the small girl to a room in the house in the guise of playing with her. Once inside, he reportedly tried to rape her. After sometime, the girl told her mother about the incident.
The girl's mother, growing suspicious, questioned the boy, and realized that there was a rape attempt on her daughter. After a complaint was made to the police here, a case was registered and investigation has been undertaken.
