Mangalore, May 29: The state government has banned fishing for 57 days in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts beginning from June 15, stated a press release from the fisheries deputy director.
The ban, imposed during the fish breeding season, will last until to August 10.
During the ban fishermen in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district are prohibited from using more than 10 horse power outboard engine for any activity.
The release stated that fishermen who violate the conditions will be denied of government benefits and would not be eligible for any relief in case of an accident.
