Kuwait, May 29: The Indian Muslim welfare association (IMWA) of Kuwait held its 13th annual general meeting (AGM), recently. The event took place at Delhi Durbar in Salmiya.
The programme began with a recitation of the verses from the Quran by M H Mujeebullah. In his presidential address, Mir Ibrahim Ali Khan talked about the aims and objectives and the various activities of the IMWA. The organization was founded in 1995 as a means of working for the welfare of Indian Muslims in Kuwait.
One of the items on the agenda was the passing of a resolution of condolence on the demise of the former Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah on May 13.
Treasurer Iftikar Ahmed presented the audited financial statement for last year while general secretary Iqbal Soofi presented the annual secretarial report highlighting major events organized the past year.
Minutes of the twelfth AGM were reviewed and passed. Joint secretary Israr Ahmed proposed the vote of thanks. Mukhtar Marouf, president of FIMA, was also present. IMWA is registered with the Indian embassy and is a member association of FIMA.
