Bangalore : 'Kumaraswamys' - Profusion of Names Gives Rise to Confusion
Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore (MSP)
Bangalore, May 29 : The would-be speaker of the newly formed state assembly, ministers and other assembly staff have a new kind of head ache to handle. Not only will they have to get used to remembering the faces and names of the individuallegislators, a good number of whom are newcomers, but have to train their brains to remember and recall their initials too! In case of a few legislators, not only names, even their initials tally in toto.
All Kumaraswamys - MP, HD, KG and HK
Uttering of the name 'Kumaraswamy' immediately brings to our mind the face of our ex chief minister. It would be of immense interest to know that there are three more legislators bearing the same name. While our ex chief minister H D Kumaraswamy has won from Ramnagaram constituency on a JDS ticket, the name of the Sakleshpur MLA from JDS happens to be H K Kumaraswamy. BJP MLA M P Kumaraswamy represents Moodigere constituency and another BJP MLA K G Kumaraswamy, who has won from Shimoga Rural constituency, will also be sharing space in the assembly, giving this name of the Lord a chance of being chanted and heard much more frequently.
M Srinivas, a BJP MLA from Rajarajeshwari Nagar has one more person to be confused with. He is JDS legislator M Srinivas representing Mandya constituency. These MLAs might be tempted to add the names of their constituencies too to their names, to ensure that other persons do not walk away with credit for whatever they do. Another BJP MLA from Bangalore South constituency, M Krishnappa too is in similar dilemma. He has to carve out a different identity for himself, as compared to Congress MLA M Krishnappa from Vijayanagar.
A piquant situation also stares in the faces of six legislators bearing the name 'Suresh' and four more with the name, 'Basavaraj', as they may have to do away with using their names alone, and resort to suffixes and prefixes too to be properly identified. It need not come as a surprise if they strike a compromise with the speaker to refer to them as Suresh1, Suresh2 etc, as otherwise uproarious scenes might arise if names alone are called in the assembly.
