Mangaluru, Sep 8: Although the coast experienced sunny weather the whole day on Thursday, some places near the foot of the Western Ghats received rainfall in the evening coupled with thunder.
Sullia received heavy rainfall for about 90 minutes starting from 5 pm. Thunder and lightning which accompanied the rain gave rise to panic. Subrhamanya too got good rain between 5 and 6 pm along with thunder and lightning. Puttur and Kadaba are the other places where rain with thunder and lightning was received.
Light drizzle was experienced in the evening in the city, rural areas near the city, apart from Bantwal, Mulky and Moodbidri. The district received five mm rainfall during 24 hours ending Thursday morning. Udupi district also received light drizzle in the evening. Sunny weather during the day gave way to cloudy weather in the evening.
