Kasargod, Sep 9: In tragic incident, a woman and her daughter were found dead in a pond near Mogral here on Saturday September 9.
The deceased has been identified as Mariamma (45), wife of Abdulla, a resident of Chowki Kambar, and her 6-year-old daughter Murshida.
While Mariamma's body was found a short while later, Murshida's body was found on Sunday September 10.
It is said that Mariamma left from home with her daughter saying they were going to a nearby plantation.
The locals who were nearby rushed to their rescue. Mariamma was brought out of the water, but she had passed away by then. After an extensive search, Murshida's body was found some distance away from where she had fallen into the water.
Kasargod fire service personnel, police and locals helped in the search operation to locate Murshida.
The bodies were shifted to the mortuary at Kasargod general hospital.
