RVD holds roadshow in Pune to showcase manufacturing eco-system in state

Bengaluru, Sep 9: Karnataka’s Large and Medium Industries R V Deshpande held a road show in Pune on Saturday and presented the manufacturing ecosystem of the State to 150 industry representatives and prospective investors as part of the strategy to attract investment for the proposed Vendor Development and Investors Summit to be held in November.

The Minister led the delegation and met with some of the key entrepreneurs from Pune and invited them to participate in the event to be held on November 23 and 24. 

The delegation had B2G meetings with 14 companies covering various sectors. 

The Stare Government aims to leverage on the technology and manufacturing prowess to attain a position of leadership and excellence in manufacturing and overall industrial development. 

In this regard, Karnataka is organizing Vendor Development and Investors Summit on November 23 and 24, 2017 at BIEC, Bengaluru. 

The summit will act as a common platform for CPSUs, SPSUs, Mega and Large units in identifying vendors of their choice in terms of production capacity and quality standards. 

This meet will also help MSMEs understand the need of the OEMs. In addition, this programme will benefit MSMEs in planning their production and product diversification.

The Summit will facilitate the participating companies in exploring the investment opportunities in Karnataka and firm up their new/expansion investment proposals with the State Government in terms of project approvals or MOUs. 

To promote the event among Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s) & MSME’s, Deshpande along with Senior Level Official Delegation visited Pune today. 

The delegation met with some of the key industries from Pune to invite them to participate in the event and to discuss their interest in expanding their business in Karnataka.

The delegation had B2G meetings with 14 companies covering various sectors. 

The Minister met Baba Kalyani, CMD, Bharat Forge Ltd, Shishir Joshipura, Managing Director, SKF India Ltd; Suhas Kadlaskar, Director, Mercedes Benz; Sanjay Bohra, CFO, Force Motors Ltd; M S Unnikrishnan, Managing Director & CEO, Thermax Ltd; Nitin Chalke, Managing Director, Eaton Technologies Pvt Ltd; Shrikant Badre, Chairman, Badve Group; Gurpratap Boparai, CEO, Fiat India Automobiles Pvt Ltd besides others.

During the meetings, the Minister discussed with the companies the support and facilitation provided by the State Government for implementation of their projects in the state. He also invited them to participate in the forthcoming “Vendor Development & Investors’ Summit 2017” in Bangalore. 

The State Government had also organised a Roadshow and presented the manufacturing Eco system of the State to the large audience present. 

More than 150 industry representatives and prospective investors participated in during the Roadshow. 

Deshpande in his address, said the State Government is focused on providing momentum for imaging itself as the most industry friendly state in the country. 

While focusing on the growth, we are taking cautious steps to ensure that the development would not have adverse effects on the environment, people and the ecosystem. 

He also outlined the potential for investments in various sectors in the state; viz., Aerospace & Defence Equipment Manufacturing, Automobiles, Auto components & Electric Vehicles manufacturing, Biotech, Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices, Agriculture & Food Processing and Machinery, Textile and Apparels and Innovation & Start-ups among others.

D V Prasad, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary to Government Of Karnataka, in his address emphasised on the initiatives undertaken by the state to develop the ecosystem for the overall industrial development; with special focus on the MSME sectors. 

Deepak Sood, CEO, Invest Karnataka Forum, made a detailed presentation during the roadshow on “Enabling Manufacturing Ecosystem of Karnataka.”

Kamal Bali, Chairman, CII Karnataka & President & MD, Volvo Group India,  T S Jaishankar, Deputy Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt Ltd, Dr. N Muthu Kumar, President & Whole Time Director, Automotive Axles Ltd, Niteen Inamdar Chief Operating Officer, Sigma Electric Manufacturing Corporation Pvt Ltd shared their experience of doing business in Karnataka with the audience of the Roadshow.

Nitin Chalke, Chairman, CII Pune & Managing Director Eaton Technologies Pvt Ltd was also present in the Roadshow.
