Mangaluru: Home minister did not oppose unity march, only asked to postpone - Ramanth Rai

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Sep 11: "Karnataka home minister, Ramalinga Reddy, only asked for postponement of the unity march that was proposed to be held by us from Farangipet to Mani on September 12. He has never advised us against organizing it," said Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, B Ramanath Rai.

He was clarifying to media persons who approached him with questions after the Dasara sports meet organized at Mangala stadium here on Sunday September 10.

"Unlike BJP, we do not break the law and disrupt peace. Congress party never allows people to take law into their hands. Both the home minister and police department have sought the Padayatra to be postponed. We will soon announce the new date of the Padayatra," Rai stated.

Rai had recently announced that an apolitical Padayatra will be led from Farangipet to Mani on September 12. In the meanwhile, the government did not allow BJP Yuvamorcha to hold its 'Mangaluru Chalo' motor bike rally on September 7. On that occasion, the home minister had said that Padayatra too would not be allowed.

Dont retaliate by doing unity march when everything is o.k. If you do it and something happens then you are responsible for all the consequences. For the present postpone it.

Now you will get to see real face of these congi leaders. just read their statement while Mangalore chalo rally by BJP and now same people talking about Unity March. If BJP Mangalore Chalo bike rally was declared as anti social harmony, then this is also an anti social harmony event. Has to be called off officially by Govt. Or else this will be another evident to Congress cap evidencing the misuse of the power. Siddu.... please be aware and you will be held responsible if you permit this event.

Baby anna yatras, rallies are BJPs agendas when they are free sitting as opposition party. Dont follow them is such agendas. You are known for the delivering good to people of the region. just carry on your good works towards humanitarian, you dont need yatras at this age. Developmental works are far better than rallies.

    Shettre,

I totally agree with you. I am repeating in this column, Mr. Rai has started this issue in DK and now he wanted to set right his position for comming election. Only one option is Mr. Rai has to openly demand apology with people of DK, otherwise his political carier will finish like JP.
