Beltangady, Sep 11: The appeal filed by K Somanath Nayak, president of Nagarika Seva Trust, against an order  passed by the court of the additional civil judge here stands registered in the civil court (senior division). The court has temporarily stayed the  arrest warrant issued by the said court.

The appellate court has fixed September 12 as the date for the personal appearance of defendant, Dr D Veerendra Heggade. A release stated that lawyer, Bhaskar Holla, represented Somanath Nayk in the court.

In a separate statement, lawyer, N Ratnavarma Bunnu, who represents Dharmasthala institutions in the courts, said that Somanath Nayak was   handed imprisonment for violating court orders and making unsubstantiated allegations against Dr Veeerendra Heggade. "When the court bailiff went personally to serve arrest warrant, Nayak was not available. Now, as per the normal procedure of the court, the court has given temporary stay of four days against his arrest, and I will represent the defendant on September 12 to submit Vakalat Nama. Arguments will take place that day about the stay order, and we will be allowed to file objections. The court has only issued stay against arrest. It not waived his punishment or forfeiture of his assets," he clarified.
