Mangaluru: Management club Makarios inaugurated at AIMIT

Media Release

Mangaluru, Sep 14: The department of MBA of St Aloysius College (Autonomous) celebrated the inauguration of Makarios 2K17-the management club under whose aegis all student activities for the year were conducted on September 13.

The dynamism of the MBA Department at AIMIT’s academic life spills out of the classrooms. Singularly active, student associations and clubs provide a forum for interaction among themselves and the world outside under the banner of the management club-Makarios.

Makarios has always laid abundant emphasis on systems thinking. Carrying the domain further ahead, Makarios now has a new look with its new theme ‘Fostering Design Thinking’. Design thinking is neither art nor science nor religion. It is the capacity ultimately for integrative thinking. Innovation and creativity are the integral elements of Makarios.

The chief guest for the inaugural ceremony was Anirudh Acharya, branch head, Ad Syndicate, Mangaluru. The other dignitaries who were part of the inaugural function were Fr Denzil Lobo, SJ, director- AIMIT, Justine James and Dr Vasanth Naik- coordinators, Dr Rowena Wright- dean (Academics-MBA), and Anup Acharya, management club secretary.

Chief guest Anirudh Acharya enlightened the audience on the latest trends in the ad world digital marketing and content marketing. He signalled that Artificial Intelligence (AI) was the way ahead for all business in general and advertising in particular. He advised students to cultivate the habit of out of the box thinking.

Director of AIMIT, Fr Denzil Lobo SJ, in his address highlighted the fact that the MBA department had always been a strong advocate of the systems thinking approach. He cautioned the students that they would be constantly faced with simple, complex, ambiguous and wicked problems as budding business managers and a systems thing approach with creativity and innovation would provide a framework for effective solutions. He quoted extensively from Samuel J Palmisano’s celebrated work “Capitalising on Complexity” and highlighted that ever-rising complexity is unavoidable: the choice is in how organisations respond to it. He then led the office bearers of Makarios through the oath taking ceremony.

The event concluded with the release of the Insignia teaser and also the inauguration of ‘Sperenza’ the library notice board.
