Mumbai, Jun 2: The distribution programme of school books and stationery to school students was held on Sunday June 1 morning, organized by Konkani Catholic Association (KCA) Nallasopara, at St Francis De Sales school auditorium, Nallasopara (East).
Nallasopara municipal health officer Navanat Shinde, was the chief guest of the occasion, distributed the school books and stationery to most needy students belonging to various communities.
Shinde, in his address to the gathering, said that parents should make their children to be aware of their own future. They should shape the future of their children to become self oriented entrepreneurs, rather than motivate them to become doctors, engineers and other professionals. They should empower their children with teaching materials and financial assistance. The social welfare and voluntary organizations are assisting the students to realize their dreams of higher education. The students who avail such assistance are expected to make the best use to become role models to others. Education should not only serve to earn living, instead it should make them responsible citizen which is essentially required at the prevailing circumstances.
Local social worker Atmaram Patel, SVD priest from Rajastan Fr Veersingh Bhandore, were the guests of honour present at the occasion.
KCA president Harry B Coutinho said that KCA has been striving for the students, in order to reach new heights regardless of gender and inequality in income. KCA has been involved in creating awareness among the students, not to let religion, caste and creed of students deter their progress.
Fr Gerald D’Souza commended the local Mangalorean community for their concern on education of students from all communities.
KCA vice president Grace Pinto, secretary Patrick Frates, treasurer Alwyn Francis D’Souza and executive committee member Lilly Quadros, Ignatius D’Souza, Mary Veigas, Violet Moraes, Richard D’Souza, Lavina D’Souza, Leena Lobo, Christopher Pais, Leena Pereira and others were present at the occasion.
School text books and stationery were distributed to over 300 most deserving students from various communities, during the programme.
