Mangaluru: Kavita Trust, KNS organize poetry recitation competition

Mangaluru, Sep 18: Kavita Trust in association with Konkani Natak Sabha organized Konkani poetry recitation competition at Don Bosco Hall on Sunday, September 17.

The competition was inaugurated by Fr Derryl Fernandes (capuchin), editor of Sevak monthly along with Kavita Trust President Melwyn Rodrigues, KNS vice-president Sunil Menezes, general secretary Judith D’Souza and convenor Treeza Pinto.

The competition was held in three categories - below 15 years, 15 to 30 years and above 30 years.

Vencita Dias of Angelore parish bagged the first prize, and Aldon Vinoy D’Souza of Bajpe parish and Chrisel Treeza D’Souza of Milagres parish bagged the second and third prize respectively in the category of below 15 years.

Prewita D’Souza of Gurpur parish bagged the first prize, and Amlin D’Souza of Angelore parish and Jizal D’Souza of Milagres parish bagged the second and third prize respectively in the category of 15 to 30 years.

Adellaide D’Sa of Bejai parish bagged the first prize, and Irene Mendonca of Cascia Parish and Norman D’Souza of Cascia parish bagged the second and third prize in the above 30 years category.

Kavita Trust distributed certificates and poetry books to all the participants. Drama writer Richie Pereira and dramatist Alwyn Pinto were also present.

William Pais, Averyl Rodrigues and Andrew L D’cunha were the judges.

Fr Derryl Fernandes welcomed the gathering. Vitori Karkala compered the programme. Kavita Trust president Melvyn Rodrigues announced the results and Sunil Menezes proposed the vote of thanks.
