Durga puja special menu for Bengal hospital patients

Kolkata, Sep 20 (IANS): Breaking the monotony of hospital food, the patients at state-run medical establishments in West Bengal will get to sample special menu during Durga Puja.

"For the last five years, we have been serving a different menu during the festive season. This year also we have a menu from 'saptami' to 'dashami' (September 26 to 30)," Director of Health Services B.R. Satpathy told IANS.

On "ashtami" (September 28), the spread is vegetarian with lentil curry, rice, dal and vegetable curry for lunch.

Cottage cheese curry (paneer), rice and dal will be served for dinner.

Non-vegetarian fare is the highlight for the other three days.

As accompaniments, the authorities have placed "chutney, papad and payesh" on the roster.
