Bengaluru: Rescued priest Fr Tom to meet Modi & Sushma to thank

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Sep 23: Indian origin Salesian priest Fr Tom Uzhunnalil who was abducted in ISIS and rescued in Yemen on September 12 will reach New Delhi from Vatican on September 28.

Currently recuperating at the press office in Vatican, the priest will call on Prime Minister and the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to thank them for Indian government’s efforts to free him from his abductors.

Earlier Sushma Swaraj had tweeted that she had spoken to Fr Tom and he had thanked the Government of India, PM, people and governments involved in his rescue mission and people of India for their concern and prayers.

Fr Tom will reach Bengaluru on September 29 and come to his native place Ramapuram here on October 1, informed Fr George Muttathuparampil, spokesman of the Salesian congregation.

    Good gesture by Fr. Tom.
He thanked everyone. Genuine Christians character is to be humble, truthful and thankful.
Always do your best to speak truth. In truth alone we will have blessings of God almighty.
At the same time we should recollect that the same ISIS, killed 4 nuns, elders and guards to show their notoriety to the world. May their souls rest in peace.

"Fr. Tom was kidnapped when his care home in the Yemeni city of Aden was attacked in March 2016. Four gunmen posing as relatives of one of the residents killed four Indian nuns, two Yemeni staff members, eight elderly residents and a security guard."- News report of the incident!!

Shocking to know that public memory is really very short, why??

Today, luckily, Fr. Tom, is a free bird due to the relentless efforts of many people; the main being HRH Sultan Qaboos!! But the entire focus, today, is on Fr. Tom's release while nobody, including, Fr. Tom has spoken a single word regarding the innocent Indian nuns, n the status of their families, who were massacred while doing their duty in the name of Jesus Christ, and the innocent elderly residents who too perished in the attack?? What sort of justice we r doing?

Is there no Almighty God for the martyred nuns and elders? Who is praying, or even rembering, for their souls??

There is no doubt that what history we read is written by the WINNERS n most important relevant things brushed under the carpet!!

This is not a time of politics, and as a courtesy Fr. Tom should thank Modi, Sushma, Sonia and to the many thousands if not millions who prayed for him. Last but not least, it is the working of the Heavenly father through the Holy spirit.

As regards voting, then one should vote based strictly on party manifesto and economic interest, in short who will make India Great again.

Personally I am not surprised with Tom's wish to meet and thank the head of our country as well as Sushma Swaraj. He or any other Christian/Catholic priest would have done it. From my own association with few priests during my studies and later due to my frequent visit to Mount Mary, I have learnt one thing - they never preach hatred nor they speak politics during their church service. The only word once I heard was, be careful on how you choose your political leader, and I think, it is very apt. Fr. Tom lives what he preaches. There is no politics in his moves nor there will be with most of the church leaders. Don't forget they are highly qualified people.

Commenting about Anirudh's comment, Christians will only vote Congress is absolutely wrong. Many of my Christian friends and families voted for change and today even I regret my choice of Modi. As they say, you should keep your chappal on your feet, never take it on your head.... I hope you understand the meaning. I understood only after I made the mistake. I hope you too will learn and save this country from moving rapidly down the hill.

BJP IS ALREADY CONVINCED THAT NO MATTER WHAT THEY DO FOR CHRISTIANS, MAJORITY OF THEM ARE GOING TO VOTE FOR CONGRESS. NO PRIZE 🏆 FOR GUESSING THAT.

THEY BEING IN CENTRAL GOVT DID WHAT THEY COULD DO TO GET THE FATHER RELEASED. AS ANY ACT WITH GOOD INTENTIONS ARE ALWAYS HELPED BY GOD AND NEVER FAILS, THEY WERE ABLE TO GET HIM RELEASED.

NOW FATHER BEING GENTLEMAN WANTS TO THANK EACH AND EVERY ONE WHO HAVE WORKED TO GET HIM RELEASED.

IN SUCH A SITUATION INSTEAD OF BEING THANKFUL TO ALMIGHTY, YOU ARE SPITTING VENOM. HOW THANKLESS PERSON YOU ARE

Christians are better off in our country than in any of the neighbouring countries. We appreciate the good works done by the Govt. irrespective of party affiliations. We haven’t forgotten the efforts of the Govt. in bringing back Judith D’Souza from Afghanistan and we are hopeful that Jacintha Mendonca will also be back home soon from Saudi Arabia.
