Mangaluru: Justice for Kavya - Several arrested for staging semi-nude protest

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SB)

Mangaluru, Sep 23: Several members of the Justice for Kavya Action Committee were arrested after they held a semi-nude protest over the death of Kavya, a student of Alva's High School, Moodbidri, here on Saturday September 23.

The protestors led by the forum gathered near Wenlock hospital to hold their rally to DC's office, despite the fact the police had denied them permission. The protestors however went ahead with the rally, during which, they started to remove their clothes. The police then intervened and arrested several semi-nude protestors.

Speaking to the protesters, Dinaker Shetty said, "Police and the district administration are trying to stop us from staging agitation by making arrests. But we do not care about arrests. We will fight until get justice is done to Kavya and her family.

"Our main demand is that the investigation should be done by COD. We do not have any faith in the investigation conducted by the local police. Last week we submitted a memorandum to the state home minister about this. But no action has been taken so far. When we met him he assured that within days the police department would reveal the findings of the investigation, but it has not yet happened. At the time of Kavya's death, all local police, leaders and elected MLA s visited her house and assured justice. But later they joined the support rallies of Mohan Alva. They are all with Mohan Alva and as per his instructions, they are trying to end the investigation by terming it as a common case of suicide," he said.

Social worker Robert Rosario said, "Government agencies are not functioning in Moodbidri. Mohan Alva is ruling there and all elected representatives and police are working under his command. It has been almost two months since Kavya's death, but till her death certificate is not available in Moodbidri taluk office. It shows how governments offices are functioning in Moodbidri. So our request is to conduct COD investigation, as only that will reveal the truth behind Kavya's death."

Anil Das, Shashwat Bhandary, Nirmal Kumar, Shipal Raj, Shailesh Kottari, Harish Amtadi, Shailesh Kottari, Jeevan Neermarga led the protest. Hundreds of students from various schools and colleges from the city participated in protest.

In general Soumya and Kavya murders will never be investigated. If it truly perceived another version of Karnataka's own Dera Sach will come out.
Both BJP and coastal Congress leaders don't want this investigation pursued. The powerful religious body who have claws over these political parties never allow them to do so.

I strongly believe that our investigation agencies knowling force to act like unknown. More deaths it is the political fortune is the real concern of the political parties.

My sympathy with the parents of the loved ones. Hope God them strength and patience to bear the loss.

It is a very sad state of affairs. With the sole exception of the mayor Mrs. Sanil, no politician is ready to fight for this poor family. Politicians from all the parties are on the same side now. They are the ones who are supposed to fight for the oppressed and downtrodden. Who is going to help this family? I had hopes that Mr. Janardhan Poojary would try to do his bit, but where is he? If not anybody, at least the people who belong to Kavya's caste should come together and do something for the family. They should not allow the mighty and the financially sound people to give this matter a quiet burial. Justice should prevail. Today it is Kavya, tomorrow it could be one of us.

Its a pathetic situation of law and order in Karnataka sate. So many crimes have not been investigated and if done does not have a logical conclusion. What is happening ? Why is anyone not pulling up the CM Siddu? I wonder how people are advocating for another term of this inefficient Govt? You cannot blame God and Modi always and expect them to solve issues in this Congi led state. BTW any news on Gauri Lankesh murder or do we need to forget it?
