Pakistan, Russian militaries hold joint drill

Islamabad, Sep 25 (IANS): The Pakistan and Russian militaries are currently holding a two-week long joint exercise, the Pakistani Army said here on Monday.

The opening ceremony of the exercise codenamed as "DRUZBA 2017" in Mineralnye Vody in Russia was attended by senior military officials of the special forces of both countries, the army's media wing Inter-Services Public Relations said in a statement.

The joint exercise will focus on counter terrorism operations, hostage and rescue, cordon and search operations, reports Xinhua news agency.

It will enhance and further strengthen military ties between both countries and share the Pakistan Army's experience in the war against terrorism, the statement said.

Last September, a contingent of 100 Russian troops had taken part in joint exercises in Pakistan.
