Goods train derails in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Sep 27 (IANS): Train movement was affected after 16 coaches of a fertiliser-laden goods train derailed near Nergundi station in Odisha's Cuttack district on Wednesday, officials said.

The mishap occurred at around 4 a.m. However, there was no casualty or injuries, said an official of East Coast Railway (EcoR).

The goods train was coming from Gangavaram port in Andhra Pradesh to Haibargaon in Assam loaded with fertiliser.

The EcoR, however, said the train movement would not hamper much as trains will run on an alternate route via Barang/Kapilas road bypassing Cuttack station.

Several local passenger trains passing through the line have been cancelled.
