Yashwant Sinha launches attack on PM Modi, Chidambaram says 'truth prevails'

New Delhi, Sep 27 (Zee News): Veteran Bhartiya Janata Party leader Yashwant Sinha on Wednesday launched a full-blown attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government criticising the Centre of its economic policies. Sinha's criticism was echoed by another former Finance minister P Chidambaram who said that "no matter what Power does, ultimately Truth will prevail."

In a series of tweets, Chidambaram quoted Yashwant Sinha and questioned whether 'power' will admit the 'truth' that economy is sinking. "Instilling fear in the minds of the people is the name of the new game, says Yashwant Sinha," Chidambaram tweeted.

Chidambaram's comments came after Yashwant Sinha in an editorial wrote that the Indian economy is in a mess. "I shall be failing in my national duty if I did not speak up even now against the mess the finance minister has made of the economy," he said.

Criticising Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Sinha recalled in his write up how despite losing the Lok Sabha election from Amritsar, he was made the Finance Minister. "One may recall that in similar circumstances Atal Bihari Vajpayee had refused to appoint Jaswant Singh and Pramod Mahajan, two of his closest colleagues in the party, to his cabinet in 1998," Singh wrote.

Calling him a 'lucky finance minister', Sinha claimed that the government had an unprecedented bonanza due to depressed global crude oil prices but the opportunity was wasted. Taking potshots at Modi's humble beginnings, the former finance minister in the BJP government said: "The prime minister claims that he has seen poverty from close quarters. His finance minister is working over-time to make sure that all Indians also see it from equally close quarters."

Now Sinha will be a regular guest in NDTV. Very impressed that most of our Daijiworld readers are great economists and they understand economics more than our ministers and their support management. Well done people.

I thought this op-ed's author's name should be P.Chidambaram not Yashwant Sinha. Then how come a professional party hopper and uncanny opportunist of politics has come to condemn his own party much against common sense wisdom and party thinking on economy?

Sadly none of the facts he marshals against causes economic downturn have any basis in reality. Being inspired by hatred of Jaitely is enough to qualify him to get him on pages of a leading national daily. Perhaps Sinha wanted his son Jayant to be the FM instead of Jaitely. After all he has earned full dynastic rights on finance ministry of India.

He was furious when his son was caught passing insider information as minister for personal benefit and shunted to lowly ministry of aviation. He doesnt care about his political career now , it seems. He must have not forgotten Bajpayee firing him as FM when caught with hands in till of Oppenheimer fund through his daughter-in-law. Sinhas never change..Alaas.

Remaining period of Modi tenure is really crucial .....
    Graph already started flowing downwards....
Reasons are many...economic slow down, world recession are main...
    Demonetisation ,gst implementation also contributed...
Utna baitna with Adani Ambani Tatas has catched eye of middle class who are main hitters Modi govt policy....
Jaitly is another danger for Modi govt..
Modi may be brillient...sucessful CM three times...all these things nothing to do with success as PM of the great country like India wherein 85 per cent are middle class and farmers...
Latest Saubhagya scheme is another ritual to keep fooling the farmers....no tangible benifit in that.
In Mahabharatha,in spite great warrior Karna even though so powerful, valiant had full support of king Duryodhana ,could not survive for single reason that he didnt enjoyed Gods grace......
Poor and middle class are god like for the PM of the country...
Ground level opinion about present govt is very bad now...especially middle class especially senior citizens......

With the exception of delivering speeches, the PM does not seem to be knowing what he is doing. He is playing around with the economy as if it is a cricket ball. I don't question his intentions - they may be good - but the question is his capability and qualifications.

Google states that he has a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science, graduating with a third class. Five years later, in 1982, he received a Master of Arts degree in political science from Gujarat University, as an external distance learning student. Are these degrees enough for anybody to manage a country as vast as India?

Is it any wonder, therefore, that the economy has been reduced to a mess as stated by Mr. Yashwant Sinha? People like Dr. Manmohan Singh, Chidambram and Mr. Yashwant Sinha would be wondering as to how the people of this country could elect a person like the present PM to manage the nation.

Once again, I am not doubting his intentions. He may be trying his best but that is woefully short of the requirements of the country. India needs a much more qualified person to manage the economy. The damage appears to have been done. Ask any businessman and he will tell you the extent to which his business has suffered.

The people have been fooled and now it is time for us to think ahead and look for an alternative. When you have people like those mentioned above, why are we foolish to elect somebody who does not seem to know what he is doing.

Indian economy is really in a mess. Only family benefiting from this mess is Ambani / Adani Group. Our PM is all out supporting them at the cost of common man.
Oil prices have fallen and the benefits are reaped by only Ambani / Adan & Co.

Those who knows economics are the best judges to comment on government. Dr. Manmohan Singh expressed his views...P. Chidambaram expressed his views..and now ex finance minister Yashwant Sinha. All these three gentlemen are experts in economics and handled finance ministry. Modi should take the views expressed by them seriouly and take a call on present finance minister. Present finance minister is useless and need to be thrown out of the cabinet.

Demonetization is a closed chapter now...
Whether it was a success or failure we common people should not worry..

Demonetization did not stop people from drinking coffee tea alcohol etc. The same way it didn't stop economy. And the country growth depends on its commodity produce and profits and loss depends on demand /supply basis...
