Udupi: Man repeatedly stabs himself to death in drunken stupor

Udupi, Sep 27: A person, who had been intoxicated, repeatedly stabbed himself with a knife and also consumed poisonous substance. In the bargain, he  lost his life. The person who killed himself in this way was Shankar Naik, resident of Kambalamajalu in Bellampalli village. Although he was provided with treatment, Shankar did not show improvement in health condition and succumbed to injuries.

It is said that Shankar used to routinely consume intoxicating substances and fight with his family members. On September 23, he reached home at 12.30 pm and bolted himself into a room in his home after telling others that he had decided to die. He then stabbed his neck, abdomen etc and also consumed poison. The family members brought him out of the room and admitted him into the district government hospital at Ajjarkad. He did not  respond to treatments and breathed his last on Tuesday September 26.

A case of unnatural death in this connection was registered in Hiriyadka police station.
